Are mice really used to grow replacement human ears?

I saw niptuck tonight, and I know that the show tends to be approach out there contained by bizarro world, but I can't help but wonder in the region of this episode.
Can mice, and are they really used to grow ears for humans?

Yes! I saw that on a medical show once. (Not a fictional show--it be something like 48 hours or Dateline or some show approaching that.) It was a while ago, though, so I don't remember the show.
