Is it true that when you donate blood to the red cross they mix yours with other peoples to see if theres antibodies for read out hep b? so then if someone's comes up positive they don't know who's it is. someone told me that and i wasn't sure if it be true.
Answer:
It sounds like someone's confusing cross-matching (performed in the past actually transfusing donated blood to ensure that the recepient will not own an immune response to the donated blood - see link below) beside the infection screening process. Currently, the Red Cross screens for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C. CMV can also be screen.
Nope.....however told you that is spreading rumors. Anytime you donate blood to any agency (including your local blood guard or hospital), your blood stays secure and out of danger. They cannot by law mix your blood near anyone else on purpose for any root.
In blood grouping generally, why are only the donor antigen and recipient antibodies considered not vice versa
