Does anyone own comprehension concerning the use of bone graft as a mode to repair chips?

I'm 27 and 2 years ago, I chipped a small piece of bone from my humerus. I now own some restriction of motion, catching and grating. I would like to play tennis, raise weights and live a more active lifestyle free from these symptoms. Hence, my Dr. proposed a bone graft which would come from a cadaver (someone who died and is an organ Donner). He said that beacause of my relative youth, that this procedure would allow for a complete recuperative (if the graft takes) thus eliminating the inevitability for any future surgeries, or problems. Seriously, this sounds similar to one of those too good to be true deal. Would this really work? I always thought that graft (skin, bone) had to be taken from live donnor sites and imediately transfered, I guess I be wrong! How long can a dead people bone be "dead" and still be able to become living again! And any other insight would be appreciated.tx

Answers:    in attendance are 3 properties of bone grafts....
1)support to riddle defects such as bone lost from body
2)so call osteoinductive effect..growth factors derived from bone....these relief bone formation
3 stem cells...child cell which grow into bone....

some of these are present in cadaveric bones ...
but ones own bone taken from pelvic bone/leg is better....
but taking ones own bone may bring infection,etc..in uncommon persons....

so ask ur doc if u can transport bone from ur own body and do grafting.....
own a discussion.....
i dont know how big your chip is but l don't see how you can have any restriction of motion?"dead"bone cannot become "live".it is one and only used to bridge a gap and your own bone grows into and arownd the inert bone like steal (you put surrounded by foundation ) in the concreet
