What are the mechanism that relates cough & temperature changes?
Answers:
<>In the absence of any other stimulus or pathology, I am not aware of any direct link between the two. Can you provide an example or scenario? BTW- asthmatics can, when exposed to extreme temperature changes have fits of coughing, usually a precursor to an attack.
The general answer would be that not the temperature change but the cold is the stimulus that causes coughing. This is because the cilia in the windpipe stop working in low temperatures, therefore not clearing it of dust or particles that stimulate the coughing. That is the reason why most respiratory infections happen during winter, the viruses are also allowed to get in by the malfunctioning cilia.
The more particular and holistic answer would apply if it is you who coughs when exposed to temp. changes and it is that it is your particular way of expressing the disbalance in your vital energy. Some people cough when exposed to temp changes but some don´t. Your predisposition is what makes you cough and not the actual temperature change. Exposed to the same virus, some people will get infected, some won´t, some will develope a serious disease and some a banal fever. The stimulus is the same, the suceptibility to that particular stimulus is what makes the difference.
