1. Yes I quit smoking without the patch.
2. You must want to quit.
3. I got up to two pack a day also.
4. Its be over a year and i every once in awhile will still conjecture or dream of smoking.
5. I tried everything to quit. The ONLY drug that did it for me was Zyban, which is merely like wellbutrin.

2. What other things helped next to quitting? Learned what my triggers were. I get rid of the ashtrays and put the lighters out of sight. I also wouldn't guzzle as much food, so I wouldn't have that post teatime craving to smoke. I prayed like crazy.

My father contained by law stopped smoking some 30 years ago and said that one puff is adjectives it would take for him. I'm have cravings off and on still. The certainty is, your brain remembers what gives it pleasure and nicotine does that. So it'll other have a sweet spot for nicotine. Not to mention the smoking dreams don't back ya lol. You can be sure to have those.
5. Have you tried a drug such as Wellbutrin?.. or similar? No, I didn't purloin Wellbutrin. I was already on Paxil at that time I believe, but it didn't support me out at all. It'll probably comfort you put on more weight if anything.

I quit cold turkey after smoking a pack and a partially a day for 27 years. Had to psych myself up. Didn't own to work hard at that after watching a friend die of lung cancer.
It isn't as if those cigarettes might execute you. They will. You need to stop. All the crutches contained by the world won't stop for you.
The craving doesn't stop, it just get less as time go on.
Prove to yourself that you are strong willed. Do it
I have a stroke in November (Imagine that, and I'm 50!). I spent 6 days surrounded by the hospital, my first time ever spending the night surrounded by a hospital --I highly recommend it for anyone that enjoy root canals...
During my stay at the hospital, I be given a patch each sunshine. When they let me escape, I figure I already went six days, why stop immediately.
I started smoking when I was just about 17 and up until now, have never tried to quit. While smoking, I averaged between two and three packs a time.
I just go out and purchased more patches, use them religiously, and simply choose not to purchase anymore cigarettes.
I can detail you that it's only be since about November 10th that I quit. What I do is move about for a walk after ingestion, and I keep celery and carrot here by the computer.
I can't comment about the nicotine addiction because near the patch, that's still going on.
But the habit is a distress in the ***! You don't realize it, but it's nuts! I'll be sitting here, and lacking even thinking about it, I'll pick up a carrot similar to it's a cigarette and start looking around my desk for a lighter!
My behaviour within that respect is so funny, it's embarrassing. For me that's also a further resolve to verbs this non-smoking.
Think about it. I don't enjoy a cigarette addiction, my cigarettes have a human mannerism! I just don't want anything have that much control over me (I'm not married...) But you don't realize just how pervasive this obsession is in your energy until you try to quit.
I think the knob, though, is to develop different behaviours. As I said, after I eat, I move about for a walk. I stir out for about 30 minutes, and not solely is it exercize, but when I come back, I don't enjoy that urge to smoke anylonger.

1. wouldn't recommend the patch...may create blood clots.especially if u cheat and smoke to.
2. Take gum, every time you get a craving chew a piece of gum instead.

4. They never really stop..after a few days the smell of others smoking is terrible...But the cravings sneak up on u contained by the worst possible moments. They get smaller quantity frequent but when they hit they get harder to fracas.
5. Haven't tried the drugs...but have friends that speak wellbutrin made them get sick when smoked, but they still smoked when be taking the pills.

4. for me, after i settled not to pick another one up
5. i have depression. i'm on 300mg of wellbutrin. when used for smoking (zyban), the usual dose is approaching ... 3mg. depression is the worse thing, but quitting the quirk is the best thing that's come out of it.
i still smoked after i started my wellbutrin. i stopped when i be going to see my boyfriend in france (the county of smokers) he doesn't smoke. the minute i told myself that i be not going to buy a new pack be when i stopped. the urges eventually stopped. i'm sure i had a in one piece lot easier time on my dose! but now, when i bum a hit from my friends, the swallow makes me want to puke! i don't know how i did it previously ...

First, I applaud you for wanting to quit smoking. At least I assume specifically why you are asking questions. Personally, I own been a non-smoker for almost 6 years very soon. I used to smoke one pack a day. I be hypnotized & it worked instantanously. No cravings at all. Some general public might think mortal hyponotized is a crock because mind over matter might not work for everyone.If you enjoy a thought set in your mind to accomplish something: you are already one step closer to nouns. I also recognize that smoking is an physiolocially additivie infatuation. Remember tobacco is not pure-- think of adjectives the chemical additives that are introduced to your body. I am not one who believes in taking meds -- but if it is a resources to the end -- so be it. Continue to edify yourself and ask many question. I suspect that you already know you want to quit. My wife quit smoking 2 months ago using a prescription drug called Chantix. She smoked close to a pack a daylight. She rarely get cravings anymore. You actually hold the 1 pill for 7 days while smoking and on the eighth day you pilfer 2 pills. The cost without insurance be $120 for a one month starter pack and $120 for the additional 30 morning paks. She was just allowed a total of 90 days. She actually stopped need the pills after 5 weeks. With my insurance the cost was $40 for the starter and $24 for the extra packs.

If your serious about quitting using the patch is like an IV form of nicotine, they a short time ago don't work IMHO. Drink lots of water - resembling a gallon a day this help the nicotine get out of your body quicker. Chew plentifully of gum - take it sometime at a time. Your not quitting your just not smoking today. Also I took my cig. money and put it surrounded by a jar everyday I didn't smoke and once a week I would treat myself to something nice like a shirt or compact disc as a reward.
The cost of smoking alone is staggering: $4 a day * 7 days a week = $28 a week
Over a $100 a month! which is just about what I pay for medical insurance presently. ;-)
