I was wondering If you know what your IQ number was. My IQ is going on for 130. Do you think I am smart satisfactory to become a physicain.

IQ is just a number which can oscillate by 10-20 points throughout the day. Do not put too much stock within imaginary numbers. In my experience thus far here are a lot of idiot doctors and seriously of very smart doctors. If you can work intricate and endeavor to understand everything you can become a physician (assuming you exceed your classes, MCAT, interview, and boards blah blah blah). The difference in individual a physician and being a great doctor is the fitness to relate with your patients and treat them as a creature and not a problem. There are some very intelligent general public in my class who cannot chitchat to / work with / relate to / or become conscious patients. Maybe they will be pathologists. As much as you learn within the classroom there is no amount of preparation that can transport the place of the wisdom of experience.

I have a 145 in fifth title and was told I would put together a great doctor but then I did drugs.

You're probably too smart. You'll be tempted to reason for yourself, and you might even be open-minded adequate to actually listen to patients. (That later part is really heresy contained by the medical profession.)

That's what happen to smart people who become doctors.

The typical doctor have to be dumb enough and languorous enough to adopt what he is taught, lacking asking questions. The doctors who reflect on for themselves and challenge conventional tradition get within trouble with their peers.

Eventually, the smart independent-thinking doctors any get their license revoked . or they hang around for the subsequent paradigm shift, and then they win a Nobel Prize.

If you can remember economically, then you should enjoy a chance. There is plentifully to remember and long term memory is drastically important.

somewhere I have read that most doc's IQ was 120 or 130 .. smart, but not super whiz .. that kicks surrounded by at 160+ . the mensa croud.

my pa was a doc. doc wants to have LOTS of drive, will power to overcome the current allopathic system. First the institution and then the residency. And they involve to memorize a gazillion things. .. more than IQ points. For example I was told that one med arts school had a progress indicator that be how people LIED on their MMPI on trying to appear ok for the med school.

Honestly I don't know why we are still encouraging time of war time mentality medicine where on earth doc's are encouraged to be over salaried, short staffed and have to stay up 30+ hours on a shift.

Yes. (my IQ is about alike!) 130 is the border number between high intelligence and exceptional intelligence. In certainty, most standard IQ tests stop counting at nearly 130, so to get a true evaluation of your IQ you might necessitate to do a test for exceptional intelligence! Some stupid answers here. first off, a mark of130 is not a great IQ, nor is it on the border between an exceptional IQ and genius, at tiniest this is true if you are going by the American system. This is pretty average. I scored highly developed and my father scored within the range of 150 but neither one of us be impressed since we were working to the American system that have recently changed the selection of IQ scores within order to produce people smarter by raise the mean chalk up. A score of 130 contained by America is not the same as a evaluation of 130 in the UK. Those internet test are particularly unreliable.

Gruff is a short time off beside his thoughts about doctors. Perhaps he substandard to get into medical institution. Doctors are taught to expect and not just to memorise facts. Most of the medical exams require lateral thinking to outdo.

But I do think you are smart ample to get into medical conservatory. Whether you can cope with one of the more competitive residency places (neurosurgery) will depend on your propensity and how dedicated you are.

IQ have very little to do near your choice.
What really counts is aptitude and the hunger for science, you must be infected with what i phone call the virus of observation.

I myself be 132 back when i be 17, but what really made me choose a career surrounded by medical science is the love for science and human beings.

Choose what you wish, but choose sagaciously.

p.s. there are things they don't explain to you about a trade in medication you need nerves of steel and aptitudes more next anything.

Here's a little example: When you obtain pinched or pricked or spilled with blood from an HIV + tolerant you need to start taking retrovirals and hold an HIV test every six months.
