it depends 100% on what is causing the pneumonia. sometimes they'll use a cephalosporin. somtimes a macrolide, other times a tetracycline. or a sulfanamide. it totally depends on the organism i.e. doing the infecting.
also, yeah, amoxacillin will kill a personality allergic to penicillin. anything with "cillin" within it's name is contained by the penicillin family and will ilicite one and the same allergic reaction.
