I think the most predictable course will be more like the movie Gattaca, where on earth humans are genetically engineered, or even just screen, to find and eliminate the inhabitants with imperfection. Scientists are working on ways to control the gender of an embryo, which is apt in some ways and doomed to failure in others.
Well, computers or artificial AI is merely as smart as what the programmers program them to be. Therefore, I think that a genetically enhanced human is more probable because all scientists hold to do is find one gene that determines intelligence/strength and alter it and then you own a super powerful human being.
