Why would antidepressants help with opiod/pain killer withdrawals?

or how could i find out, and dont say ask the doctor (no duh)

People often become depressed after withdrawal or they have a pre-existing depressive condition. Depression can lead to relapse. So, maybe by treating any underlying mood disorders, you would have a better chance of staying clean. Also, there are always ongoing studies, and maybe they have found some biochemical reason that they actually help with the withdrawal process itself. You would have to check on that. Try looking up psychopharmacology.
no ** anti depressants some would theoretically help with opoid withdrawal but i suggest cold turkey unless it is your health that is in question. you can always slowly come of the drug with diminishing doses if you can handle that and i could understand if you couldnt well good luck and well id eat some acid that always solved my problems
Even if the do help with the withdrawal of the other types of drugs, you are going to have to go through the withdrawal of the antidepressant as well. I was on effexor for about 6 months and I came off it cold turkey and let me tell you, I felt like I was going to DIE. It terrible. You can't take any type of drugs, prescription or otherwise without some kind of dependency..
