Appendicitus? why would a hole be vanished where on earth the surgery tool place?

I know someone who has have thei appendix removed. However, the surgeon seems to enjoy left a hole where on earth the op took place - anyone know why?
Also how long will this take to make well? My friend had the op 2 weeks ago and have still not recovered fully due to the hole which bleeds.

Answer:
There are a couple of questions that stipulation to be asked first.

How long ago was this surgery?

How be the surgery done? Was it a traditional open procedure, or be it a laparoscopic (camera assisted) surgery?

Laparoscopic surgery has a small coincidence of wound dehiscence (i.e. the wound breaks open) since the incisions are smaller. There will be three or four small incisions. One in the umbilicius (belly button) and two (or more) contained by the lower left region of the belly.

A traditional appendectomy incision is a single incision about 2.5 to 3.5 inches across located within the lower right abdomen. It to have a small chance of wound dehiscence.

Next, and most importantly, did your friend's appendix rupture? A ruptured appendix have a high casual of a wound infection, which could cause a dehiscence. This is dicey. As a precation, most surgeons will close the fascia (the tough fiberous material below the skin and fat layer, but will leave the skin incision begin to the air (or brimming with with a dressing). This wound any undergoes a hindrance primary (aka tertiary) closure (they wait to close the skin for around 3-4 days) or it is left to alleviate by secondary intent (The wound is allowed to treat from the bottom up). This wound will probably take 4-8 weeks to restore to health completely. It may leave a larger mark, but this can often be excised at a following time if it is really distressing to the patient.

If the wound be not left get underway, did he have a post-operative infection? If so the treatment is to initiate the wound to let it drain. This will be not here to heal by subsidiary intent (See above)

There is also the possibilitiy that the surgeon had disappeared a drain in your friend. This is repeatedly done if there be a concern for bleeding or infection near where on earth the appendix was removed. Theses drains will walk out small holes in the skin after they are removed. Sometimes they will drain a clear/yellow/red fluid afterwards. These can regularly be closed by a simple bandaid and if left alone will usually close within a day or two.

If you hold concerns, please have your friend speak near the surgeon. Only the surgeon knows exactly what they did within the operation and what was see. Ask them to go over what happen and why they did the procedure that way. Ask them when they expect this wound to restore to health and what can be done to close it. Ask them if there be any indication that there be an infection.
Take your friend to a doctor,
You friend must see a doctor immediately. Do not difficulty. If the wound gets infected, it could organize to peritonitis and this could be fatal. If you are surrounded by the UK, you need to shout as loud as you can. The NHS at the moment is one contained by which he who shout loudest gets the treatment. Those who suffer contained by silence, die in silence within the NHS.
First, I would suggest he check with his insurance company to see if he can see another doctor for a check-up. They will necessitate to know why and you will probably have to return with special authorization for this. Second, I would suggest he go to a completely different hospital system than the one he go to origionally to have the surgery done when he have it checked. Doctors will protect each other to avoid suit. Then, depending on what that doctor say, you may want to see a lawyer, nifty.
the hole needs to be teeming so that it can heal from within(upwards). if you dont pack it consequently it will close and he will be left beside a cavity.
get to a G.P infection is the predictable cause of the hole appearing so anti bio's from doc wil sort that out

have for how long, well we adjectives heal at different rate's
On-line guessing isn't going to obtain anywhere. Chances are he had a minor post-operative wound infection and you've just heard a small subdivision of the story, pretty routine. He needs follow-up, but this is between him and the surgeon.
he proabably have a JP drain inserted- that allows any fluid (like blood or pus) to drain out of the wound. this is commonly done if there be a bad infection contained by the surgical site. usually the hole from where the drain be in simply heals up on its own after it get pulled out, but it may not depending on various factors- have a bad infection can for sure delay wound remedial. 2 weeks is too long for that hole to remain patent- he needs to shift back to the doctor- he may newly need to put contained by a few stitches.
tell your mate to see a GP straight away and afterwards go to see a solicitor
