If you specialize surrounded by Psychiatry after med academy, are what you study within the specialty same as college psych?
Answer:
No. If you are studying psychiatry, you would be studying in depth psychoses, specifically, those diseases where the lenient is split off from the material world: paranoia, which is very much a portion of schizophrenic disorders. A student studying to be a clinical psychologist must also have a skill of psychiatric disorders, so that he or she would know not to try to treat them, but to refer them to a psychiatrist.
Psychiatry is not the same as psychology. Just resembling how a PhD program in Psychology is not like as getting a PhD to be a clinical psychologist. The former is more research basesd, whereas the latter is more patient and clinically base. Likewise, as u said, a psychiatrist is a M.D. They can deliver babies, prescirbe medicines, etc. You should probably speak to a counselor something like this... I'm a med student, and I don't really know what psychiatrists do. Ever since Tom Cruise, people enjoy no longer wanted to be psychiatrists. This may be upright for you, as the residency is not as competitive as say neurosurgery (Dr. McDreamy anyone?). I know this didn't really comfort, sorry. I just considered necessary to waste time on my study break.
